Brownstown Schools Approve Renovation, Building Projects

Last updated on Tuesday, October 30, 2012

(BROWNSTOWN) - Brownstown Central Community School Corp. trustees recently approved plans to renovate the district’s elementary, middle and high school buildings and add onto the elementary and high schools to improve security and increase classroom space.

The Seymour Tribune reports that the projects will cost the district $24.7 million with bidding to begin next spring. The projects should be completed sometime next year.

The paper reports financing for the project will include funding from grants and other means of fundraising, but in a worse-case scenario, issuing bonds would be the primary source of funds.

The projects will include renovations to the older parts of the elementary, middle and high school buildings as well as additions to the elementary and high schools to improve security and increase classroom space.
