(BLOOMINGTON) - A pair of Indiana University professors who died in June will be honored for their influential research in political science.
Elinor Ostrom died June 12. She was the only woman to receive the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences. Her husband, Vincent Ostrom, died June 29.
The Ostroms were partners and colleagues for nearly 50 years, researching how democratic governance can affect environmental sustainability.
In 1973 they founded what is now the Vincent and Elinor Ostrom Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis, a collaborative research center with international connections.
IU will hold a celebration in their honor Oct. 15 at the auditorium on the Bloomington campus.
