(UNDATED) - The Central Indiana Bicycling Association is gearing up for its biggest event of the year this season.
However, board member Joe Hettle says Lance Armstrong is likely to be the biggest topic of conversation.
Some 5000 racers from across the Midwest will hit Ellettsville for the "Hilly Hundred." It's the premier bicycle racing event in Indiana.
Hettle says many competitors will be talking about Armstrong who stepped down as head of the Livestrong Foundation. Also, Nike and Anheuser-Busch pulled out as Armstrong backers. This following the U.S. Anti Doping Agency's report that Armstrong used and encouraged U.S. Postal Service teammates to take banned substances during his Tour de France victories beginning back in 1999.
Hettle says he considered Armstrong a hero early on. He says he hopes fallout from the Armstrong case will serve as a means of cleaning up the sport.
