(NEWBURGH) - 26-year old Tyler Bowles, of Dubois County, pleaded guilty reckless homicide in connection with the 2011 shooting death of a Newburgh man.
The guilty plea was part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.
Bowles was originally charged with voluntary manslaughter, a Class A felony, for the early morning shooting death of 28-year old Scotty Kirk on September 18, 2011 outside Bowles' home on North Kellerville Road.
Officers from the Dubois County Sheriff's Department found Kirk dead from a single gunshot wound that entered below his lip on the left side of his head.
Police say the shooting followed an altercation between Kirk and 25-year old Brent Bowles, a relative of Tyler Bowles.
Tyler Bowles will be sentenced November 2nd. He is facing between two to eight years in prions and a fine of up to $10,000.
