(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was arrested Thursday night after she was found intoxicated and shoplifting at a local store.
25-year-old Brittany Turpin was charged with public intoxication and theft.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, Turpin who is pregnant and due to deliver soon, was in the Family Dollar Store and had put several items in her shopping cart.
"But she also was putting items in her purse," Parsley says. "When officers arrived they found Turpin was intoxicated and found the items in her purse. She was arrested."
