(SALEM) - 44-year-old Steven Dalton, of Salem, was arrested after he grabbed his wife by the hair and dragged her across the ground.
The Leader-Democrat reports that Dalton was charged with domestic battery, strangulation, and residential entry.
According to Washington County Deputy Ryan Larrimore, Dalton's wife ran to a neighbor's during the fight. The neighbor told police Dalton forced his way into their home, grabbed his wife by the hair and told her she needed to get home. The woman got away from Dalton, but he grabbed her again by the hair and began dragging her across the ground.
Police say Dalton had been drinking.
The couple's teenage daughter attempted to intervene and that is when Dalton allegedly grabbed the child by the throat. The neighbor also told police she saw Dalton standing over the top of his wife and saw him hit her in the face.
Dalton admitted to police he had been fighting with his wife, but told police he couldn't remember what had happened.
Dalton remains incarcerated on a bond of $6,000 full cash.
