(SANDBORN) - Four storefronts in Sandborn burned Thursday night.
Firefighters went to the scene at 11:20 p.m. to find the vacant structures on College Street in Sandborn ablaze.
Bicknell Fire Chief Tom Hougland was on scene all night and he says the fire took half the block before firefighters managed to knock it down.
Two storefronts were destroyed, two others suffered damage. He says the remaining structures will be useless now as walls are weakened due to the fire.
A cause is being investigated by the state fire marshal's office.
Sandborn, Bicknell, Bruceville and Edwardsport and Freeland departments were all on the scene.
Houghland says Sandborn's water supply was drained and water had to be trucked in from Edwardsport.
As firemen were fighting that fire, another call came into Sandborn concerning a mobile home fire.
That home was pretty much destroyed but fortunately a mother and her teenage son were able to get out without injury.
