(BEDFORD) - Two Bedford men, charged in unrelated cases involving child pornography, are awaiting court dates.
John William Hudson II originally was scheduled for a jury trial Monday in New Albany, but that trial was continued until March 4th.
46-year-old Hudson was arrested in August after a federal grand jury indictment. He is charged with one count of distribution of child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography. Hudson was arrested on August 23rd , after police served a warrant at his home in the 1700 block of 14th Street.
40-year-old Richard Wegener, who is charged with one count of possession of child pornography, has entered a guilty plea in a plea agreement in United States Southern District of Indiana. That agreement awaits the court's acceptance. The hearing is set for 9 a.m. November 30th and if the plea agreement is accepted, Wegener will also be sentenced at that hearing.
Wegener was arrested without incident on May 31 by Indiana State Police Troopers and officers with the Department of Homeland Security. He is currently in the custody of the U.S. Marshal. He was taken to the Floyd County Jail and held without bond.
Each man could face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count of possession of sexually explicit material involving minors. Hudson also faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count of distributing child pornography.
The court could also impose on Wegener, supervised by probation for the remainder of his life; he would participate in a program of treatment for sexual disorders, and that he would not have any unsupervised contact with any minor child, without approval by the probation officer.
