(WASHINGTON) - 20-year-old Chad Evans, of Washington, was injured Sunday night after a two vehicle crash on U.S. 50 near Red School Road.
According to Trooper Steve Sexton, Evans was driving a 1991 Pontiac east on U.S. 50 when for an unknown reason lost control of the car causing it to go off the south side of the road and hit an embankment around 7:20 p.m.
After hitting the embankment the car spun back around onto the highway and crossed in front of a westbound 2013 Kia driven by 24-year-old Jesse Ray Tincher, of Washington.
The Kia hit the Pontiac in the right rear causing Evan's car to travel back off the roadway and down the embankment, crashing into a tree.
Evans was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to IU Health Bedford for treatment of a non-life threatening head injury.
Tincher was wearing his seat belt and was not injured. The crash is still under investigation and Sexton says drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
