(UNDATED) - Wild Bulletin, once the name for DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife news releases and more recently an intermittent list-serve product, is being converted to a free monthly e-newsletter beginning in November.
"We believe this makes a critical connection with the group of our stakeholders who are interested in fishing, hunting and trapping," DNR director Rob Carter said. "It gives us a convenient format for delivering information to them on a regular basis."
Think of it as the inside scoop on what's outside.
The current Wild Bulletin has about 150,000 subscribers who receive email delivery of information repackaged from news releases sent to media outlets. Delivery of Wild Bulletins tends to be sporadic, with items coming in bursts followed by dry spells.
"The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service recently reported Indiana has more than 842,000 'sportspersons' - people who fish, hunt or trap," said Mark Reiter, director of DNR Fish & Wildlife. "That's a large audience by any measure, and we aim to connect with as many as possible with the new monthly Wild Bulletin e-newsletter."
The new Wild Bulletin will mirror the format of MyDNR, another monthly e-newsletter with more than 220,000 subscribers that focuses on a broader range of news from all DNR divisions.
Wild Bulletin is a free publication. Go to Wildlife.IN.gov/5704.htm and fill out the form to become a subscriber. All you need is an email address.
Each monthly issue of Wild Bulletin will feature announcements of upcoming seasons, regulation changes, meeting notifications, record fish catches, survey reports from biologists, fishing and hunting tips, youth events, annual harvest reports, links to DNR videos, and more.
A special deer issue will be distributed on Oct. 15, followed by the first monthly issue on Nov. 1.
