(BLOOMINGTON) - Following his visit to IU on Sunday, North Central (Ind.) H.S. senior defensive tackle Darius Latham has committed to play for the Hoosiers.
The IDS reports that Latham, the four-star prospect, has long been considered an IU target and his leader in his recruitment since his decommitment from the Wisconsin Badgers in October.
According to Rivals.com, he is ranked as the 229th best recruit in the country and the 16th best defensive tackle in the entire 2013 class.
Latham is expected to play at a needed position for the Hoosiers next season, as 2012 starting defensive tackles Larry Black Jr. and Adam Replogle will be graduating this year.
During his visit on Sunday, Latham attended IU's men's basketball game against Ball State with David Kenney, a four-star defensive end who is also committed to the Hoosiers.
He announced his decision to attend IU on his Twitter account later Sunday, posting a tweet stating "It's official, I'm a Hoosier" with a photo of an IU hat attached.
With Latham's commitment, IU now has 14 members in its 2013 recruiting class,
including four four-star prospects.
Before this group, the Hoosiers never had a class of multiple four-star commits.
He is also the fifth in-state commit for the Hoosiers and the fourth ranked in the top 10 of the state slated to attend IU next fall.
