(BROWNSTOWN) - A 7-year-old child injured when falling from a moving vehicle Thanksgiving Day remains in an Indianapolis hospital.
The child's injuries, which police described as extensive, are not life-threatening, Lt. Joe Kelly of the Brownstown Police Department said Friday afternoon. A condition report was not available from Riley Hospital for Children.
Two people have been charged with neglect of a dependent in connection with the child's care, police said. They are Shirley M. Huff, 59, and Samuel K. Williams, 37, both of Brownstown. They remained in jail Friday evening.
Huff was driving the truck when the child fell out, police said. Williams, the girl's father, was not in the truck when the incident occurred. Huff and the child are not related.
