(BROWNSTOWN) - Brownstown Central High School (BCHS) varsity cheerleaders competed in the annual Indiana Cheer Championship State Finals on Saturday, Nov. 3rd , and won state runner-up in the co-ed division.
Those participating were Macy Madden, Summer Pfeiffer, Macey McElfresh, Jordan Stevens, Mackenzie Pritchett, and Brian Wayman; Kate Butt, Daphane Gray, Nikki Nolan, and Miranda Stuckwisch; and, Lexie Striegel, Laken Johnson and Jessica Pritchett, and Coach Todd Darlage and Assistant coaches Kayla Applegate and Jordan Pendleton.
This program is sponsored by the Indiana Association of School Principals. Participants in this competition first had to qualify at the varsity preliminaries, which were held Saturday, Oct. 27, at Pendleton Heights High School. Sixty-one Indiana high schools sent varsity cheer squads to the preliminaries ranging from Class 1A to Class 4A, however; only 39 Squads qualified to advance to the state finals.
Brownstown is the only squad from Jackson County that participated.
This is the fourth consecutive year that Brownstown has qualified to participate at the state finals, and this is the second time that they have won the trophy for state runner-up.
