(BLOOMINGTON) - An anonymous donor to Hoosier Hills Food Bank will match up to $30,000 in gifts through December 31st.
Amy Robinson, the co-founder of the Food Bank, which just celebrated its 30th anniversary.
Every year the program has distributed more than 3.2 million pounds of food to 92 nonprofit agencies in eight counties. Now, they have gardens producing fresh produce, donations purchasing pallets of food from grocery stores and salvaging operations that harvest meals from leftovers from local businesses.
The anonymous donor has agreed to match donations of $100 or more from anyone and all donations of $30 or more from new or lapsed donors.
Representatives from four of the counties Hoosier Hills serves presented proclamations and resolutions in honor of the food bank Sunday, including Bedford Mayor Shawna Girgis, Loogootee Mayor Noel Harty, Spencer Town Council President Cynthia Hyde and Monroe County Commissioner Iris Kiesling.
