(ECKERTY) - The Indiana State Fire Marshal was on the scene at the Eckerty Y General Store on Wednesday investigating the fire that broke out overnight and destroyed the building.
English Volunteer Fire Departments were called to the store on State Road 64 just before 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Firefighters then called for the assistance of Birdseye, Celestine and St. Anthony volunteer fire departments responded along with departments from surrounding counties.
The interior of the building was destroyed and the floor collapsed leaving a large hole to the basement.
The store was closed when the fire started and no one was injured during the blaze.
The shop was a Sunoco gas station, grocery store and tackle shop popular to hunters and fishermen visiting the Patoka Lake region.
