(UNDATED) - Gov. Daniels will be joined by federal, state and local officials to officially open the first three sections of the new I-69 corridor in Southwest Indiana.
The new sections will cover a 67-mile stretch that comprises what has been the longest contiguous new interstate construction project in the United States.
Grand opening events will be held at three locations and Gov. Daniels will lead a ceremonial parade ride between them.
The new I-69 corridor will officially open to traffic by 6 p.m. that same day, in time for the Thanksgiving travel holiday. Due to event parking constraints, all grand opening events are by invitation only.
WHERE
Near Evansville - on the interstate at the SR 68/I-69 interchange. Beginning at 8:40 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. Speakers to include: Gov. Mitch Daniels; Congressman Larry Bucshon; Lt. Gov.-elect Sue Ellspermann; Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke; Toyota Indiana President Norm Bafunno
Formal remarks will be followed by a celebratory ribbon cutting and the start of the parade ride with Gov. Daniels.
Washington - at Antioch Christian Church - 3007 East Highway 50 (just east of the US 50/I-69 interchange). Beginning 11:40 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. Speakers to include: Gov. Mitch Daniels; David Graham, longtime advocate for the new I-69 corridor; Mark Newland - honoring his late father, Jim, of the Mid-Continent Highway Coalition
This event will include special recognition of construction workers and volunteers. The parade ride with Gov. Daniels will continue following this event.
Near NSA Crane - on the interstate at the US 231/I-69 interchange. Beginning at 1:50 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. Speakers to include: Gov. Mitch Daniels; Commander James Stewart; Commanding Officer, NSA Crane; INDOT Commissioner Michael Cline.
This event will include special recognition of Indiana basketball legend Bobby Plump and Olympic gold medalist David Boudia.
Formal remarks will be followed by a celebratory ribbon cutting.
