(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Prosecutor’s office is still investigating if whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in the fatal crash that killed three people and left a fourth seriously injured in a wreck on Bailey Scales Road.
Lawrence County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Tim Sledd says the case is still under investigation and cannot comment on the investigation.
The four were traveling in a 1979 Jeep on Bailey Scales Road when the vehicle went off the road and hit a utility pole.
Killed in the crash were 33-year-old Dasan Spires; 33-year-old Laura Duncan and 38-year-old Morgan Hutton. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
30-year-old Kyle Hutton was seriously hurt but survived. Hutton's husband spent several days at an Indianapolis hospital and was then released.
Police at first didn't know who was driving the vehicle, because all the occupants were thrown from the Jeep. They have since determined Kyle Hutton was driving. Police claim Hutton had been drinking before the crash.
