(LINTON) - A 27-year-old Linton woman was arrested Tuesday on a warrant for felony theft after she allegedly “cleaned out” a Linton motel room.
By Nick Schneider of the Greene County Daily World reports, Angel Radown Walls, 27, was arrested by Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy James O'Malley on a Superior Court warrant charging her with theft - a class D felony.
No initial hearing date has been set.
Walls is accused of telling the night clerk at the Park Inn Motel during the early morning hours of Oct. 15 that she was the niece of a woman renting one of the rooms.
She allegedly told the clerk that she was supposed to check into the room and wait for her aunt to arrive, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by Linton PD Det. Paul Clark.
"(The clerk) believed the female to be truthful and gave her a key to the room," Clark wrote in the probable cause affidavit.
The clerk later became aware that Walls was not the niece of the woman who rented the room and went to investigate.
She discovered that Walls had entered the room and took most of the items in it ---- including the mirror that hung on the wall, a decorative wall painting, pillows, pillowcases, blankets and sheets from the bed, a digital alarm clock, and towels and towel racks from the bathroom, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Clark indicated in the affidavit that the towel racks had been pulled from the bathroom wall.
On Oct. 17, police received a call from Jerry Wall, who said Walls had left some property at his residence, and he believed the property belonged to the Park Inn.
Wall also told police that he had taken Walls to the motel during the early morning hours of Oct. 15 after she told him she had to move her belongings out of the motel room after a year-long lease, according to the probable cause affidavit.
"Mr. Wall stated that he felt that Ms. Walls' behavior was suspicious, but stopped doubting her when she returned with a key from the office. Mr. Wall also stated that he believed that Ms. Walls was under the influence of synthetic drugs during the morning hours of Oct. 15, 2012," Clark wrote in the affidavit.
