(MITCHELL) - 51-year-old Kathy Basler, of Mitchell, was arrested after she failed to stop for a stop sign at 4th and Warren streets, early Sunday morning.
According to Mitchell Police Chief Mike Hardman, Basler was intoxicated and had an open container of an alcoholic beverage in the vehicle.
While the officers were gathering Basler's information and having Basler perform a field sobriety test, she offered the officer $1,000 not to arrest her.
That offer caused Basler to be charged with an additional charge of bribery along with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and cited for open container.
She was taken to the Lawrence County Jail at 1:05 a.m.
