(BEDFORD) - A Mitchell woman was injured after she failed to stop for a stop sign and pulled her vehicle into the path of another vehicle on Ind. 60 East, Wednesday afternoon.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 29-year-old Andrea Smith was at the stop sign at Meridian Road and failed to stop, pulling her 2000 Chevrolet Blazer into the path of a 1998 Jeep Cherokee driven by 24-year-old Joshua Gilbert, of Mitchell.
Police believe Andrea was impaired and requested a blood test be performed at the hospital.
Andrea complained of neck pain. Her passengers, 61-year-old Nina Parsley and 2-year-old Kristen Smith were not injured. However Kristen was taken to the hospital for evaluation, as a precautionary measure.
Joshua Gilbert was not injured.
Police say there was extensive damage to both vehicles.
Andrea Smith was cited for failure to yield the right of way, operating a vehicle without insurance and other charges are pending on the results of the blood test.
