(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Museum of History Duke Energy World of Discovery will host the Salvation Army Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Salvation Army will be promoting the Coats For Kids program and accepting donations of winter coats. The World of Discovery has more than 70 events children can participate in with their family.
The World of Discovery program is being funded by a $5,000 grant from Duke Energy. Museum volunteer Glenda Reynolds was hired at the World of Discovery coordinator.
The World of Discovery is free and will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday the museum is open. The museum closes some Saturdays on certain holiday weekends.
Children must be accompanied by an adult as this is not a babysitting service. Each adult may supervise up to four children.
Children will be asked to register and give contact information. This way the staff can give important information to parents/guardians if the museum is to be closed because of a holiday or weather, as well as alert parents to special events happening at the World of Discovery, such as demonstrations and presentations by speakers.
