(ELLETTSVILLE) - A Spencer man and teen have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at an Ellettsville gas station.
At about 2 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to the Westside Marathon Station on Ind. 46 on a report of an armed robbery.
Store clerks told police that a man had come in and knocked over display racks, then pointed a gun at a clerk and demanded money.
After the clerk complied, the man then demanded a pack of cigarettes. Clerks and witnesses in the parking lot reported he ran out of the store and got into a white Chevrolet S-10, which was last seen westbound on Ind. 46.
An Ellettsville Police Department officer followed and found the vehicle headed north on County Line Road.
When the officer pulled behind the truck, it immediately pulled into a driveway and the driver and passenger both tried to get out as the officer approached them.
Police said the officer saw a handgun in the passenger compartment as he approached.
The two, 21-year-old Levi Butler, of Spencer, and a 17-year-old were arrested at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday on a preliminary charge of armed robbery, a Class B felony.
Butler was booked into the Monroe County Jail, and the juvenile was placed into secure detention.
