(UNDATED) - Two juveniles who ran away from Bedford and Mitchell have been found in Mount Carmel, Illinois.
According to Lawrence County Sherriff Sam Craig the teens are now in detention in Mt. Carmel.
"The 16-year-old male (from Bedford) and 14-year-old female (from Mitchell) were reported as runaways Monday morning," Craig says. "We were notified just before 11 a.m. that they were located and detained."
Craig is not sure if the two will be released to family members and brought back to Lawrence County or if one of his officers will transport them back.
"That will be decided sometime today," Craig says.
The 14-year-old female has been a runaway before.
Mitchell Police Chief Mike Hardman says the girl has runaway before and was on house arrest this time. Probation did issue a pick-up order for her arrest.
According to Craig the two left in a vehicle belonging to the 16-year-old male's family member. Craig says the vehicle was not reported stolen.
Hardman says that vehicle either broke down, ran out of gas, or for another reason the teens stopped at a Wal-Mart in Evansville and called a relative to come and get them.
"That person then took them to a residence in Mount Carmel and police were notified the teens were there," Craig says.
