(BEDFORD) - Several rescue workers carried a woman up the steep banks behind the Budget Inn Sunday after she fell while walking the trails along the railroad tracks and broke her ankle.
Bedford Police received a 911 call reporting a woman had fallen and had a possible broken ankle at 5:37 p.m.
Police, Bedford firefighters and an IU ambulance crew were called to the scene.
"Then they called us to bring our Gater," says Shawswick Volunteer Fire Chief Bobby Brown. "She was a ways down there along the tracks, pretty far from the motel. But we didn't have to use the Gater and were able to carry her out and up and over the bank near the motel."
According to Bedford Fire Department Battalion Chief Ken Teague rescue crews used a Stokes basket to carry the woman to the waiting ambulance.
The woman was taken to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital and then transported to Bloomington Hospital for treatment.
