(GREENE COUNTY) - All county roads remained closed in Greene County.
Roger Axe, Director Greene County Emergency Management Agency, conferred with the sheriff and the highway superintendent Wednesday afternoon and due to the dangerous road conditions that still exist the Travel Warning Advisory for all county roads will remain in effect Thursday.
According to Greene County Highway Superintendent Brent Murray, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will assist Greene County Highway in opening Lone Tree Road from State Road 54 to State Road 48.
This will provide a corridor for access to Greene County General Hospital which is located on Lone Tree Road.
Axe says the county roads are impassable due to excess snow and slush causing wrecks and slide-offs. They are hoping to have the roads open by Friday.
Motorists are urged to stay off the roadways unless it is an emergency.
The ban will be evaluated again on Thursday.
The Highway Superintendent is requesting only emergency personnel to be on roads. They ask unless it is an emergency, please stay inside and off the roads.
