(BEDFORD) - Bedford City Council members unanimously approved the transfer of funds within three city departments.
In the police department, $20,500 was transferred from supplies to machinery and equipment.
This will allow Chief Dennis Parsley to replace a police car that was totaled in a wreck. Parsley says the other driver did have insurance, but the police car was so old the value was not enough to cover the cost of a new one.
They are planning on purchasing a 2011 vehicle. In the transportation department, $10,000 was transferred from repair and maintenance to machinery and equipment. The money will be used to buy new radios and a repeater unit.
The fire department requested a transfer of $1,396 from services and charges to supplies to cover costs of repairing a fire truck.
