(BEDFORD) - Bidders gave LIFE Fantasia a fitting birthday present Saturday of $20,000.
LIFE celebrated its 20th birthday Saturday
Lawrence InterFaith Endeavor Director of Community Outreach Donnie Hall says it is the biggest year yet for LIFE.
The top-selling tree was decorated and donated by Bedford Federal Savings Bank. Winning bidders were Brian and Crystal Beeson, who paid $875 for the tree.
About 80 Christmas items were auctioned off for LIFE, which uses the money to purchase food for its pantry and assist the needy with rent and utilities.
From mini trees and centerpieces to a few trees towering 9-foot, buyers founds lots to choose from.
Most trees sold for between $100 and $400. Wreaths and centerpieces sold for an average of $150. Ornaments brought around $20, with a few selling for as much as $50.
Many of those ornaments were made by art students at Mitchell High School and Bedford North Lawrence. The MHS ornaments raised $1,600 for LIFE.
