(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington woman who supports her family by driving has won her bid to block the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles from suspending her license eight years after she was deemed a habitual traffic offender.
The state Court of Appeals on Wednesday reversed a Monroe County judge who denied Leslee Orndorff's request that he block the BMV from imposing the 10-year suspension.
Orndorff was deemed a habitual traffic offender in 2004, but she wasn't notified until the BMV double-checked its records this years.
The appeals court says taking away Orndorff's driver's license now could hurt her family since she drives people to medical appointments.
It also says the BMV waited too long and issued Orndorff a valid driver's license after her suspension.
The BMV had no immediate comment Thursday.
