(BEDFORD) - Would you know how to deal with someone who suffers from a serious mental illness?
Serious mental illness affects one in 17 adults.
Hoosier Uplands and the Lawrence County Mental Health Alliance are sponsoring a Mental Health First Aid training class.
This class has been featured by ABC News, USA Today, NPR Morning Edition and other media outlets.
The class is being offered to Lawrence County residents for $10 per person, which is less than the cost of the book that is provided. \
The class will be Dec. 13-14 at the Lawrence County Public Defender's office in Dunn Plaza on Mitchell Road. Lunch will be provided each day at no additional cost. Class size is limited, so reservations are needed to ensure a spot.
Jan Owens, a member of the Lawrence County Mental Health Alliance, said in an email, "Attending this class may be a life-changing experience for you and lifesaving experience for someone that you may have the opportunity to minister to."
