(BEDFORD) - Local students in kindergarten through 12th grade recently were honored by the Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District by participating in the LCSWCD annual poster contest.
Focusing on the theme - "Where Does Your Water Shed?" - students expressed their knowledge and interests about the importance of watersheds and how to keep them clean and healthy.
This year students from Bedford and Mitchell submitted 463 posters Bedford and Mitchell areas representing 31 classrooms, 14 schools and four divisions.
Here are the winners and their artwork:
Grades 10 through 12: Miranda Hopper of Mitchell High School
Grades 7 to 9: Kyler Mason of Shawswick Middle School
Grades 4-6: Emily Bartlett of Needmore Elementary School
Grades 2 to 3: Jenna St. John of Springville Elementary School
The winner of each division will be recognized at the district's annual meeting on Feb. 11 at Spring Mill State Park. The winning posters also will advance to the state competition.
