(WASHINGTON) - Washington Police arrested 32-year-old old Brett Carpenter on a charge of domestic battery Thursday night.
Police say Carpenter had allegedly beat his ex-wife and was attempting to get into her home.
His ex-wife told police she was attempting to hold the door shut and request they hurry.
About two minutes later the caller reported Carpenter had gained entry had also assaulted a 9-year-old child.
He is charged with domestic battery, battery to a minor, two counts of strangulation, and three counts of neglect of a dependent.
Carpenter is being held in the Daviess County Security Center. No bond has been set.
