(PAOLI) - Paoli High School wrestlers and their coach Aaron Hannon took a team bus trip to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville to see a 7-year-old Paygar Minton, of Paoli.
Raygar's mom, Emily Minton, says he was surprised and excited to see the team when they arrived at his room.
Emily herself was not aware the whole team was coming to visit. That's because Hannon wanted to surprise the boy, who has been in the school's youth wrestling club for a couple of years now.
Raygar's older brother Ashton had told Hannon, a second-grade teacher at Throop Elementary School, that Raygar had been hospitalized.
He first spent time at Indiana University Health Paoli Hospital where he was treated for a virus. Then, on Dec. 13, his left leg began hurting and he couldn't walk. He was sent from the local hospital to Kosair where tests revealed the cause of his ailment.
Emily says his immune system is attacking itself after the virus.
Hannon, the day after Raygar went to Kosair, got in touch with Emily to find out how he was doing.
His room with a little crowded with the 20 plus people who visited.
Raygar has since been discharged from the hospital and spent Christmas at home.
