(SALEM) - David Edwards, of Salem, was arrested Sunday after police say he hit a woman leaving her with a swollen bleeding lip, a broken front tooth and scratches.
Salem Police Officer Chad Webb went to a home in the 300 block of Baird Boulevard after receiving a report of a woman being injured.
When Webb knocked on the door no one answered. Webb called for assistance and that is when a couple walked out onto the front porch.
Webb recognized the woman and when they saw him they went back inside.
Webb knocked again and this time, Edwards answered. When Webb asked about the woman Edwards told Webb she was asleep.
Webb found the woman and she told Webb that she and Edwards had been arguing and it got out of hand. She says Edwards hit her, but she couldn't tell police what with.
Edwards was arrested and taken to jail.
