(SEYMOUR) - Seymour firefighters rolling up to a fire no longer will have to flip through a binder full of sometimes outdated and hard-to-read street maps to locate hydrants while en route.
Fire trucks soon will be equipped with laptop computers to provide the city's 40 firefighters with a quicker and more efficient way to look up information needed to help fight a fire and keep themselves and others safe.
Seymour Fire Chief Brad Lucas says firefighters will not only know where hydrants and water mains are but they will also know exactly where flammable and hazardous materials such as ammunition are stored and were utilities are.
He says, knowing that information ahead of time can help protect the safety of responding firefighters as they arrive at a fire.
