(BEDFORD) - Stone City Fraternal Order of Eagles #654 welcomes the community to attend a special charity benefit Saturday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. at the Stone City Eagles, located at 1312 J. St. in Bedford.
The Stone City F.O.E. is aiming to make a significant impact on Lawrence County through the establishment of an emergency fund to provide assistance for citizens in the face of illness or tragedy. Proceeds from this event will be used to start the fund.
The event is open to the public and includes a pool tournament, Wii bowling, magic show, entertainment for the kids and live music by Dame's Rocket at 9 p.m.
In these tough times, the Stone City Eagles has recognized the need to help those less fortunate with costs associated with cancer treatment, organ transplants, open-heart surgery and various other unfortunate circumstances. Known to the world as an organization of "People Helping People," the F.O.E. is determined to ensure family, friends and neighbors are not forced to go through hardships alone.
Stone City hopes to hold three to four large fundraising events each year to raise money for the emergency fund. Their first fundraiser will be an all-day event held Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Eagles Aerie, located at 1312 J. St., with more details released in the weeks to come. The group hopes to raise $10,000 during the event with the help of local businesses, residents and Eagles' members.
The Stone City Eagles has maintained a presence in Lawrence County since 1904 and currently hosts more than 500 Aerie and Auxiliary members.
