(BLOOMINGTON) - 54-year-old Sandra Sawyer-Hughey, of Washington, was arrested on a warrant and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance.
Monroe County sheriff's deputies served the warrant on Sawyer-Hughy Friday.
According to a police report, on the morning of June 20, Sawyer-Hughey, was driving south on West Ind. 45, east of Darrell Drive. When her Mazda crossed the center line and hit a 1997 Honda motorcycle driven by 56-year-old Mark Conley, of Springville, head-on.
According to Monroe County Coroner's report, Conley died of multiple injuries. Police says Conley was wearing a helmet.
Sawyer-Hughey was transported from the scene to IU Health Bloomington Hospital after she complained of chest pain.
Sawyer-Hughey was booked into Monroe County Jail at 1:11 p.m. Saturday and about 45 minutes later posted bond which was set at $20,000 surety or $500 cash.
