(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after police caught him crawling out the roof of the Record Time Car Wash early this morning.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were alerted by a neighbor around 2:06 a.m. The neighbor reported they heard suspicious noises coming from the car wash on Mitchell Road.
When police arrived they found a bicycle in one of the car wash bays and heard noise coming from the office area and that someone was inside the office area.
That officer called for backup.
When other officers arrived, they set up and waited for the individual to come out of the building.
A short time later 28-year-old Joseph Abner was found crawling out of a hole he had cut into the roof area.
As Abner dropped to the ground, officers attempted to detain him.
That is when Abner began fighting and attempted to break free.
Parlsey says, officers had to physically subdue Abner and were able to finally place him in handcuffs and transport him to jail.
Abner is currently charged with burglary, resisting arrest by force and fleeing. Parsley says the crime is still under investigation and other charges could be filed.
