(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Commissioners determined the potential rewards offered in the county’s current insurance plan to reduce the premium were not worth the risks.
So on the advice of County Attorney David Smith, commissioners Chris May, Bill Spreen and David Flinn opted to renew the current policy with Parker Group.
At the last meeting, Miles Parker had informed the commissioners costs would spike in 2013 and offered several options to cut those increases.
But after looking at those options, Smith warned the commissioners the savings didn't justify putting the county at risks.
On Smith's advice the commissioners agreed to a package of $376,391, a 15.4 increase from the expiring price of $326,106.
