(DUBOIS) - A new jailer has been hired for the Dubois County Security Center.
Courtney Hagedorn began January 1st and will start out by completing 80 hours of training with shift supervisors as well as Jail Commander Randy Schnell and Sheriff Donny Lampert.
He has been lobbying for additional manpower since he won election two years ago.
Lampert says he's pleased with the work being done by officers on staff at the security center. However he says there are some issues where the sheriff's department as a whole can become even more efficient.
He says the addition of Hagedorn to help with the transportation of inmates would be a plus for his department and will help with other basic duties around the jail.
Hagedorn is required to attend a jail officer course at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy within one year of her employment.
Lampert says he has three other good applicants who will remain on a list for future consideration for a jailer position.
