Inmate Challenges Sentence For Fatal Shooting

Last updated on Sunday, January 6, 2013

(BROWNSTON) - A 46-year-old Seymour man serving 87 years for a July 2011 murder conviction recently filed a petition for post-conviction relief in Jackson Circuit Court.

Robert Allen "Robbie" Barker, who is serving time at the Indiana State Prison at Michigan City, asked the court to either vacate, set aside or correct his conviction in the death of William Dean "Dino" Jackson.

After that conviction, Jackson Circuit Judge Bill Vance sentenced Barker to 57 years and added another 30 years after determining Barker to be a habitual offender. His previous felony convictions include robbery in 1985, battery in 1999 and theft in 2005, according to court records.
