(MEDORA) - Medora senior Hannah Elkins added her name to a very small list by scoring 1,000 career points in a Lady Hornet uniform.
She eclipsed that mark on January 19, against West Washington at home. The Hornets lost the game, but she captured the accomplishment and what was extra special because Hannah's Dad Garry Elkins is assistant coach.
The first girl to accomplish the feat was Leah Young in 2005. Young finished with 1,132 points for her career at Medora. Brad McCammon has coached both Young and Elkins at Medora.
During her freshman year, Elkins scored 285 points. She scored 193 as a sophomore, 263 as a junior and 269 points after playing on the road at Christian Academy on Monday night, Jan. 21. She holds the school record for 3-pointers in a game with 9 and season with 61. Her career-high in points was 35 against Martinsville Tabernacle.
