(BEDFORD) - Bedford Public Library will begin using a new computer program called Symphony on January 17.
This program will offer customers many new and exciting features, including a user-friendly library catalog.
In order to complete the change the library will be closed from 9 am. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 17th.
Some Library services like the online catalog and telephone renewal service will have limited availability for a few days prior to the upgrade, but customers will still be able to return and check out items as normal until then.
The Library will re-open at 5 p.m. that evening with all services available.
The Symphony program is provided by SirsiDynix, the same company the Bedford Public Library has used since 1994. SirsiDynix has been in the library technology business for 30 years, providing 23,000 library facilities in more than 70 countries with products and services that benefit 300 million users worldwide.
Their enhanced level of customer service will give the Bedford Public Library the ability to expand services in the future and better serve the community.
