(PAOLI) - The Orange County Amateur Radio Club will begin its annual amateur radio volunteer examiner license testing schedule on Saturday.
Tests will be scheduled every other month thereafter.
Larry Jones, club president and volunteer examiner team liaison, reports the first test session for all license classes will begin at 9 a.m. in the education room on the lower level of the Indiana University Health Paoli Hospital Medical Arts Building, which is across from the hospital.
The test is available to those wanting to take their entrance-level technician exam all the way through the general and extra class license upgrades.
The team does not charge for examination registration, but there is standard Federal Communications Commission examination fee of $15.
Those attending an examination are required to bring a form of identification, such as a driver's license or Social Security card. Anyone wanting to upgrade his license level should take along a copy of his current FCC license and his Certificate of Successful Completion of Examination for his last license examination.
Those planning to participate are asked to call Jones in advance at 865-0156. However walk-ins also are welcome to attend.
Anyone interested in learning more about the hobby of amateur radio and the ease with which one can become an operator can visit the local club's website at www.kb9ohy.org or the American Radio Relay League website at www.arrl.org.
