(SALEM) - A woman who was gathering her things as she and her son prepared to leave her boyfriend of three years was attacked by the man, according to a police report.
Stephanie Taylor Ferriell, of the Leader Democrat reports, the woman told police she was washing clothes as she got her possessions together. She and her boyfriend, Dannie Wingler, were arguing. As she was putting soap into the washer, she said Wingler knocked the soap out of her hand, pushed her down and choked her.
When the woman's son came into the room to help his mother, Wingler allegedly pushed him against the wall and punched him in the stomach. The youth ran to a relative's home for help.
Wingler denied hitting the boy and accosting the woman. The police report says the woman's neck was red from ear to ear.
Wingler was arrested on Class D felony charges of strangulation and battery.
Following his arrest last weekend, Wingler posted bond of $2,000 full cash and was released.
