(SEYMOUR) - A man was charged with attempted murder after his brother was rushed to the hospital with multiple stab wounds.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Department received a report of a stabbing around 8:30 p.m. Friday from Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
According to police, Melvin Cross, 65, was brought into the ER with multiple stab wounds to his chest area. Melvin was treated, then airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital for further treatment.
Police arrested his brother, Robert Cross, 62, in the 750 block of North US Hwy. 31 and charged him with attempted murder and criminal recklessness with a weapon.
65-year-old Melvin Cross, a part-time bus driver for Seymour's bus service, was in good spirits Monday according to family members.
He underwent surgery over the weekend at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. A spokesman says Cross is listed in fair condition.
Police say they would interview Melvin Cross about the stabbing and that the investigation is ongoing. They say additional charges may be pending.
