(BEDFORD) - The Thornton Memorial Boys Club will host Steve Springer of Quality at Bats for a speaking and baseball demonstration event at the BNL Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m.
Springer spent 14 years in the minor leagues and had over 1,600 hits, and is currently a MLB scout and performance coach for the Toronto Blue Jays. He will discuss the mental side of hitting and how to gain confidence at the plate, and he will also relate his story of how he progressed from a non-starting high school player to being drafted by the New York Mets in the 20th round of the 1982 MLB draft.
Tickets for the program are $60, and will include a copy of Springer's CD/DVD, and Springer will donate back to the Boys Club $20 of every ticket sold as a fundraiser for the club's baseball program. Parents will be admitted free with a ticket purchaser, and a sibling discount is available in which additional tickets can be purchased for $20.
To purchase a ticket or for more information, contact the Boys Club at 275-2235, or 583-0951.
