Last updated on Friday, January 25, 2013

(BLOOMINGTON) - Just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, the Indiana State Police Meth Task Force located an active meth laboratory in the 1000 block of North Summitt Street in Bloomington.

Troopers found items used to make meth, reaction vessels, meth and paraphernalia used to ingest the drug.

Troopers say, four children ranging in age from five months to four years old, were inside the home and were placed in protective custody by Child Protective Services and then taken to receive medical attention because of the exposure of dangerous fumes or contamination illnesses from the dangerous chemicals.

Hazardous chemicals removed from the residence included sodium hydroxide lye, organic solvents such as starting fluid, ammonium nitrate, lithium, muriatic acid, pseudoephedrine and sulfuric acid. Many of these chemicals were found to have been combined to produce methamphetamine.

Troopers arrested, 27-year-old Joshua Scroggins and 21-year-old Misty Chambers, both of Bloomington, on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine in a government housing complex Class A felony; possession of precursors with intent to manufacture methamphetamine, a Class D felony; maintaining a common nuisance, a Class D felony; possession of methamphetamine, a Class D felony and four counts of neglect of a dependant, Class D felonies; possession of paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor. Also arrested was 29-year-old Dale McCutchen, of Bloomington on a charge of visiting a common nuisance, a Class A misdemeanor.

Anyone with information reference possible methamphetamine activity can contact the Indiana State Police Meth Task Force. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
