(WASHINGTON COUNTY) - The Washington County Fair is moving - not the location, but the dates.
Marcia Walker, of the Leader Democrat reports, this year, the fair is scheduled for June 23 through June 30.
The fair parade, which officially launches the event, is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, June 23.
Maurice Day, president of the fair board, says board members decided to move the dates up because of changes in the school calendar and school possibly starting on July 29th.
Dates and deadlines for 4-H members and their projects have changed as well. The 4-H enrollment deadline has been moved up to March 1.
Amy Nierman, 4-H Extension Educator, says, some clubs may have to meet twice a month, to meet the requirement of clubs meeting at least six times before the fair.
Another factor in changing the date was the state fair added additional days this year and will run from August 2nd to 18th.
Nierman says nothing will change at the fair, it will still have all the same features, just be a month earlier.
