Last updated on Tuesday, January 29, 2013

(NASHVILLE) - According to Nashville police a woman died in a fire inside a house on East Washington Street Monday morning.

Her identity has not been released, pending the notification of relatives.

The fire was reported sometime after 6 a.m. by a Brown County Schools bus driver.

Nashville firefighters reported finding flames shooting out the front door and windows. They attempted to make entry through the door, but were pushed back as the roof began to collapse. They were able to enter in the back of the house and discovered a woman inside.

Brown County Coroner Rob Ayers reported that there was no fire damage in the room where the woman was found, only heat and smoke damage.

Ayers says an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday in Seymour to make positive identification of the body and determine the cause of death.

No cause of the fire has been determined. The state fire marshal will be investigating.
