(BEDFORD) - Aaron Harrell has been named Otis Park’s new course manager.
Mike Mahoney, Otis Park's previous course manager, stepped down in January to take a job in another field. He signed on with the city in 2009, nearly a year after former pro Jason Calhoun had resigned.
Harrell will be supervising staff, managing tournaments, and promoting golf in the community.
Mike Mitchell, superintendent of Bedford's parks says Harrell brings a wealth of experience and has worked at several different golf courses and as a golf coach.
Bob Bridge of the Times-Mail reports that Harrell, who is a graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School, received a degree in General Studies at Indiana University in 2007.
He earned a spot on IU's golf team and subsequently earned three varsity letters.
Harrell served as an assistant pro at Fort Wayne Country Club nearly two years before competing on the Hooters Pro Golf Tour in 2009.
He took over golf operations at Shawnee Golf Course in Louisville in 2010, and later served as an assistant coach for the University of Louisville's women's golf team.
Since July he's been working as a personal contractor at the Pete Dye Course at the French Lick Resort.
